The genus Pachypodium where belong stem-succulent trees and bushes, is closely related to Adenium species. The most often cultivated species is the Pachypodium lamerei which was discovered and described by Emmanuel Drake del Castillo. The species is native in South and West of Madagascar. As a large succulent plant that can reach 10 metres high in the nature. As young plant it has a solitaire trunk but following up the flowering times, it branches. The stem is covered by stipule spines. The plants need warm, light, moderately humid conditions, and tolerates room conditions very effectively.
